‘Raise your beers high’ takes on a new meaning at the inaugural Ducktober Beer Fest to be held in Dullstroom this September, as it boasts the proud honour of being the highest beer festival in Southern Africa at a cool 2100m above sea level.

Dullstroom is a well-known weekend-getaway and fly-fishing mecca in Mpumalanga and just a quick trip from either Johannesburg or Pretoria. An expected 1250 people will descend on the Duck & Trout to enjoy a range of local and craft beers in a Oktoberfest-inspired atmosphere. That means loads of food stalls, entertainment and - of course - an oompah band! Patrons will also receive a branded Ducktober Beer Mug with each festival ticket bought.

Ducktober is brought to you by Proudly Dullstroom, whose mission is to promote and develop tourism in the area, with many more exciting events in the pipeline. The Duck & Trout is being transformed into a beer paradise for the festival with multiple bars across various indoor and outdoor sections, a converted courtyard and specially constructed festival deck and stage to ensure that the beers keep flowing. Also, be sure to check out the quirky ‘Kombi Bar’ for some good brews.

The festival starts at 10am on Saturday 30 September with the party continuing until midnight and tickets are available on Quicket at R150< www.quicket.co.za/events/32497-ducktober-beer-fest/ > The Duck & Trout will host a free party on the Friday night with DJ Cy-Co from Jacaranda as well as a ‘Babelas Brekkie’ on the Sunday, accompanied by some soothing sounds. Follow the Ducktober event page <www.facebook.com/events/850651515083688/> on Facebook for more exciting festival announcements.

This is one beer festival not to miss out on! And of course there’ll be authentic Ducktober merchandise on sale on the day to commemorate the highest beer festival in Southern Africa. That and all those beer selfies!
